The Economic Development Authority of Jones County (EDA) was formed in July, 1983, by a special Act of the Mississippi Legislature.  It brought under an "umbrella" the economic development and Chamber of Commerce efforts of Jones County, allowing for a more focused effort to promote and develop the area.

     The EDA of Jones County is a public-private partnership utilizing local government funding and private sector income in order to maximize available resources.

     The foremost goal of the EDA is the economic growth and development of the many assets in Jones County. The EDA is working to make Jones County an even better place to call "home".  In meeting this goal the EDA activities fall under two major categories, Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce.  The EDA's program of work includes an active Business and Industry Recruitment and an existing industry program to encourage and assist the expansion of our current industrial and commercial base.  The Chamber of Commerce programs fall under community development, those to enhance our quality of life.
